Extra-large phones have a specific sort of audience and Huawei has something just for them they taken their flagship the may 20 pro and super-sized it create a new phablet the may 20 X and is just arrived so let’s check it out .
let’s see what’s in the box open it up and we immediately see the phone, looks nice and it does seem pretty big, next we have a package with a SIM tool, nothing really inside here though as this isn’t an actual retail box .
Huawei has included a pair of 3.5 millimeter earbuds here, and you won’t need a dongle as there is a headphone jack, we have a USBC cable and a 20 2.5 watt supercharger which should be pretty fast .

so now that we have the mate 20x in our hands let’s go over his key features …
first up the large form factor …
there are a few reasons why you’d want to phone this big but one of them is that huge screen, it’s a seven point two inch AMOLED for the tall aspect ratio and a 1080p resolution, it really does look impressive even though it only has 346 PPI due to its size .
the screen has a water drop notch cut out but otherwise it is totally bezel s, as a phablet it’s size really stands out compared to a regular smartphone it is a bit on the heavy side too at 232 grams but you quickly get used to it.
the phone actually didn’t feel too difficult or uncomfortable to use and if you want you can use a stylus though it comes sold separately, the build itself actually feels pretty premium the may 20 X is made of glass but with an edge to vinyl texture similar to the May 20 pro, and there’s an IP 53 rating for dust and splash protection too .
next flagship level performance …
the May 20x runs on hallways top chipset the keren 980 along with six gigs of RAM as you’d expect it performs blazingly fast, it’s actually well optimized for gaming the standard resolution screen isn’t to GPU demanding and the phone comes with hallways GPU turbo out of the box for supportive games.
and for the interface you get hallways emui 9 over the latest Android 9 pi, nice .
third on the list a big battery …
a giant phone should have a giant battery right and Huawei doesn’t disappoint here with a 5000 million power power pack, together with the efficient screen and chipset we’re expecting great things from this phone as far as battery life goes.
and even though it’s large it shouldn’t take too long to charge up thanks to the bundled super charger .
number for a unique stereo speaker setup …
even though we prefer stereo speakers a lot of companies would rather leave them out in order to get slimmer bezels not Huawei though but that said their setup here is a bit different than what we’re used to the upper part of the stereo setup doesn’t double as an earpiece and it isn’t front-facing instead is located on the top it’s a mirror image of the bottom one .
overall the output should have more power and sound different than a front-facing earpiece speaker .
and finally triple cameras …
the mate 20x has a triple camera setup actually the same is on the May 20 Pro, it’s the 40 mega pixel wide-angle cam, 20 megapixel ultra wide cam, and 8 megapixel telephoto camera, even the 24 megapixel selfie camera has made its way onto the larger model .
photo quality should be just the same here as on the May 20 Pro here are a few shots we’ve taken so far, we’ll go more in depth with the camera quality in our full review .
so there you have it guys the mate 20x is looking pretty good so far bringing the features from hallways top flagship to a phablet form factor, so do you like your phones on the bigger side or is a compact design more your style let us know down in the comments below .
