would this year’s Xperia phones, sony has gone back to its traditional blocky form factor, besides the rounded sides you won’t find any curves here, the new twist is the screens ultra wide 21:9 aspect ratio .

Sony hopes that content will be more satisfying to watch on this widescreen, sort of like going to the cinema, which has the same 21:9 aspect ratio, that sort of content isn’t too mainstream, but you can find some support on both YouTube and Netflix .

with a 1080p resolution in 422 PPI content looks pretty sharp on the screen, contrast is good, with reasonably deep blacks, but colors aren’t the most accurate even if you do decide to tweak them in settings .

the displays maximum brightness is pretty high at almost 600 nits, sunlight legibility is good, you shouldn’t have problems using the phone outdoors . Read More : Sony Xperia XZ3 Long Term Review

since the screen is narrower Texas scales smaller to fit, especially noticeable on menus or the keyboard, but one clear benefit is that you can fit more onto the screen at once when using vertically scrolling apps .

on the audio front we have a single bottom firing speaker next to the USBC port, it’s no stereo setup, but it is score an excellent mark and loudness test and it’s distortion-free at max volume, don’t expect much bass here .

you have 64 gigs of storage onboard the Sony Xperia 10 Plus and it is expandable the tray opens quite easily and it fits to nano Sims in a microSD but the phone restarts every time you do this .

you can unlock the phone quite easily with the side mounted fingerprint reader, it’s separate from the power button which is above it, you can also use face unlock, but you do still need to swipe the screen to get in, remember it’s not as secure as the fingerprint .

the user interface of the Sony Xperia 10 Plus is pretty close to stock Android 9pi, there are just a few of Sony’s customizations sprinkled in, swiping down on the homescreen will bring down the notification shade and swiping up opens the app drawer, handy gestures for a phone is tall .

under the hood of the Sony Xperia 10 Plus is a Snapdragon 636 chipset and for gigs of RAM, it’s actually six gigs on the Chinese model, performance isn’t too bad, in CPU benchmarks it beats phones with a Snapdragon 630 and in GPU tests is about on par with that .

there’s no throttling and is a good daily performer, but there are better options for mobile gaming, honestly at this price we would have expected a more powerful chip .

there’s a 3000 milliamp hour battery inside the Sony Xperia 10 Plus, actually a bit on the smaller side these days especially for a mid-ranger, it does a decent job though, scoring an endurance rating of 78 hours and our proprietary battery tests .

charging is in the fastest, with a 7.5 watt charger we got bundled with the phone, we were able to charge from 0 to 31 percent in a half an hour . Read More : Samsung Galaxy S10 And S10 Plus Review

the Sony Xperia 10 Plus is a dual camera setup it is a 12 megapixel F/1.8 main cam and an 8 megapixel F/2.4 telephoto cam, both have face detection autofocus .

in good light images taken with the main cam have pleasing colors in good detail, however dynamic range is quite limited and perhaps in the attempt to preserve the highlights the xperia 10’s to underexpose .

Sony Xperia 10 Plus Full Review11

you can only turn on HDR through a toggle and manual knowledge, if you opt to do this you’ll get a significant improvement in dynamic range, but the shots are noticeably softer .

zoom photos with the telephoto camera are also in 12 megapixels, in spite of the 8 megapixel sensor, quality is decent, similar to the main cam, except there’s a bit less fine detail and the colors are more saturated .

in portrait mode the 12 megapixel shots are again taken with a telephoto cam, so you don’t need to be uncomfortably close to your subject .

the Sony Xperia 10 Plus does a good job with subject separation and background blur, but like on the zoom shots we wish there was better fine detail . Read More : Vivo V15 Pro Full Review

shots taken at night from the Sony Xperia 10 Plus’s main camera or a bit of a disappointment, they’re generally quite soft and lack fine detail, the dynamic range is also quite limited .

Sony Xperia 10 Plus Full Review13

selfies on the Sony Xperia 10 Plus are taken with the 8 megapixel F/2.0 front-facing cam, be a decent with enough detail and nice skin tones with anything less than perfect lighting though there is some softness and a lot of noise .

there’s a selfie portrait mode too, edge detection isn’t great and there’s still a lot of noise, video can be recorded in up to 4k@30fps, only the main camera is used, no telephoto shooting here .

4k footage is nice and detailed with pleasing colors and surprisingly good dynamic range, however there are quite a few artifacts visible in areas of solid color, electronic stabilization is available in both 1080p and 4k which is nice, but the 1080p footage ends up smoother .

so that’s the Sony Xperia 10 Plus, overall, you get a bright LCD screen with a unique aspect ratio, a nice fingerprint reader, vanilla Android 9pi and decent battery life . Read More : Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 Unboxing And Key Features

Sony Xperia 10 Plus Full Review14

but for more than 400 euros we expected more from this phone, a Snapdragon 636 is okay, but for the same price you can find more powerful hardware .

plus the camera performance here is kind of disappointing, and the 21:9 aspect ratio has its benefits, but also its downsides, since this phone is so tall isn’t really comfortable to use one-handed .

the Sony Xperia 10 Plus is not a bad phone, but there’s a lot of competition that can offer more and at a better price, if you really love the new aspect ratio then it might be worth looking into, but otherwise the Sony Xperia 10 Plus is tough to recommend .
