a microUSB cable no USBC here and a bulky 10 watt charger, so now that we’ve had some time with the Realme U1, let’s go over some of his key features . Read More : Top 10 Smartphones 2018
Realme U1 Design
first up and eye-catching yet budget build, the Realme U1 looks pretty snazzy with a shiny finish but it’s actually made of plastic, it looks similar to glass but it doesn’t feel quite the same .
on the bright side this means that this might be more shatterproof than a glass phone, our fiery gold model definitely looks hot, the back reflects light and sort of a pinkish-way, in a unique vertical pattern .
there are also black and blue color options available, since it’s camera bump is quite small it’s pretty stable and lying on a desk, though it does still wobble a little bit .
and although I’m not a fan of the microUSB port, at least we have a 3.5 millimeter jack for headphones here, and FM radio support . Read More : Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition Unboxing And Hands-On
Realme U1 Display
next an LCD screen with a dewdrop notch, the design is no surprise these days, but this is actually a pretty nice looking display .
the aspect ratio is quite tall, 19.5:9, and the bezels including the chin are all quite minimal, the rounded notch at the top doesn’t get in the way like a larger one would, but there is no option to hide it .
the screen itself has a 1080p resolution and that 409 PPI content looks pretty good, well test out the panel more and get those results for Our Realme U1 Full Review .
Realme U1 Selfie Camera
the third on the list a souped up selfie cam, Realme is marketing this phone is your go-to for selfies and with a 25 megapixel front cameram it could be on to something .
the camera has Sony’s IMX 576 sensor and an F 2.0 aperture, we’ve seen a setup like this before on Oppo F7, however this time there are supposed to be more advanced processing algorithms behind the scenes .
realme says that the Realme U1 has improved performance and lower light conditions, one thing I noticed is that just like the Oppo F7 selfie cam there doesn’t seem to be autofocus here, so you have to be careful to hold the phone the correct distance away for a sharp selfie . there are options for beautification, which are based on what’s trendy these days, and you can take selfie portrait shots too .
don’t forget the rear dual cameras, the main cam is 13 megapixels at F 2.2 and there’s a 2 megapixel depth sensor, it’s actually the same setup as a Realme 2, but it downgrade from the Realme 2 Pro .
Realme U1 Chipset
and finally the new more powerful processor, there’s one big difference between the Realme U1 and the Oppo F7 and that’s the new Mediatek Helio P70 (12nm) chipset .
it’s still an octa-core chip with a 12 nanometer process and on the Realme U1 is running with either three or four gigs of ram, Realme says that it should offer 13% increased processing power over the last generation Mediatek Helio P60 .
it should be pretty power efficient too, and along with a 3500 milliamp hour battery, we’re hoping that the u.s. battery life holds up well, we’ll have to see .
it has a dedicated AI processing unit or APU, sort of like the ones found in Huawei chips, this allows Helio P70 driven phones to offer a I driven features and to use AI to improve system performance, the interface is color OS 5.2 over Android 8.1 Oreo and it feels pretty smooth so far .
